Coast Christian Center occupies the church building at 1004 E. Chestnut St. According to the earlier website history, public church listings tie the address and congregation to the Assemblies of God. When the name on the sign changed has not been established.

History

Residents remember the building as Fort Bragg's Assembly of God church, a Pentecostal congregation. For a few years the church ran an elementary school on the property, though the years it operated have not been established. The church also hosted a chapter of Royal Rangers, the Assemblies of God's scouting-style program for boys.

Community Memories

One resident attended first and second grade at the church school. Another remembered going to Royal Rangers meetings back when Fort Bragg had a chapter.

Residents also remember the lively Pentecostal worship. One recalled worshipers "rolling in the aisles," a description that set off a debate in the comments over whether the practice is biblical.
