The Detrick name became closely associated with veterinary care in Fort Bragg. An American Veterinary Medical Association memorial notice records Dr. Detrick's work in small-animal practice in Fort Bragg before his death in 2000.

In later years, Dr. Veronica Thomas became strongly associated with the hospital and continued serving Mendocino Coast pet owners for many years.

Detrick Veterinary Hospital eventually closed after decades of service, although the exact closure date has not yet been firmly documented.

A 2023 Mendocino Voice report discussed Dr. Thomas's difficulty finding someone to purchase the Franklin Street practice and the loss of veterinary services on the Mendocino Coast.
