Mendocino Cafe sits at 10451 Lansing Street near the corner of Lansing and Albion Streets, beside the Mendocino firehouse. With its old-house shape, green awning, garden setting and outdoor deck, it has become one of the village's familiar restaurant landmarks.

More than three decades later, the cafe has become so closely associated with the little pink building that it is easy to overlook what came before it. The Building Today
